Call me a gingerbread [wo]man!

Ah, the freedom of running, where the only things that bound you are your own physical limits and gravity! Althought sometimes your own limits can be broken... And that is a serious bliss that only runners/athletes can appreciate!
I'm going back into running and it's amazing! I can't believe I waited so long to get back into it!! And running with people [that you want to run with] make each run SO much better than just running alone. And the addition of music is also good, especially if it's good music. [Linkin Park, Disturbed, All that Remains, Breaking Benjamin, My Chemical Romance, System of a Down...]
There is just nothing like be able to run and, as weird as it sounds, have some peace and quiet, despite the music in your ears.

Emotional Masturbation

Before I commence with this poem, the title was inspired by my mum who mentioned the term. I love it - it has so much meaning than a sexual connotation. And so here goes.
An original poem done [rough draft of course]:

Emotional Masturbatiaon

Like an addict
You get off on your addiction
But this drug is worse
Than any pill or powder
You get off on life
At the expense
Of those around you
Just like an addict
But the gap closes between fixes
And so
At the expense of others
You grind them down
And strip the emotions from them
You take great pleasure at having
The power to tear people down
The climax you reach
Is seeing them vulnerable
At having them see
You shudder in the simpleness
Of it all
And then you go
Back to your acting
Waiting and waiting
For the next
Orgasmic moment

Hand of Sorrow

One of my best friends got me into the band, Within Temptation last August, and I regret it deeply.
Why?
Because I can't stop listening to their album, The Heart of Everything, that's why!! It's a really awesome album, and I love the mix of gothic rock with symphonic stuff + bass guitar, and the lead singer's voice.
Not to mention the lyrics are simply amazing!
And she was surprised I took such a strong liking to the group, because they are a Christian rock group. This surprised me, so I looked at their lyrics while listening to their songs, and suddenly the lyrics made some sense. I'm not a religious nut or anything, but I love these guys.
So, here's one of my favourite songs, "Hand of Sorrow":

The child without a name grew up to be the hand
To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand
The choice he'd made he could not comprehend
His blood a grim secret they had to command

He's torn between his honor and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied
So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?
Will all our sins be justified?

The curse of his powers tormented his life
Obeying the crown was a sinister price
His soul was tortured by love and by pain
He surely would flee but the oath made him stay

He's torn between his honor and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied

So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?
Will all our sins be justified?

Please forgive me for the sorrow, for leaving you in fear
For the dreams we had to silence, that's all they'll ever be
Still I'll be the hand that serves you
Though you'll not see that it is me

So many dreams were broken and so much was sacrificed
Was it worth the ones we loved and had to leave behind?
So many years have past, who are the noble and the wise?

Will all our sins be justified?

Remember...

I just wanted to acknowledge the earthquakes that hit Haiti and Chile. This year alone, there have been over 20 major earthquakes, making it the most activity-filled year so far, in a very long time.
If anyone reads this, I urge - and beg - you to go oneline and find a place to donate. My work has a Haiti fund which, with every donation, matches that donation.

Chile has also been devastated by an earthquake and so please remember these people and what they are all going through as you curl up in your warm bed and sleep comfortably with a full belly.
